Nothing But The Facts

The rags have been buzzing about Patrick Swayze and his battle with pancreatic cancer. The media has already pegged him as a goner but his people are trying to do damage control and insist that he is responding well to medical treatment with an optimistic prognosis.

Now, I love me some Patrick Swayze. I was a sucker for Ghost. Red Dawn still kicks ass. And Dirty Dancing is part of what made me a homosexual. I'm even willing to forgive him for To Wong Foo.... I certainly wish him no ill will and hope that he indeed makes it through.

But let's face the truth. I'm As we all learned when Isabella Toscano Black was diagnosed with the same disease on Days Of Our Lives in 1992, pancreatic cancer doesn't have a happy ending. And we all know that Days Of Our Lives is based is medical fact.

I wonder how it is that I have known you as long as I have and NEVER knew you are a Days fan...LOL. You know...now Beau has something wrong with his pancreas too...such family drama.

Hope all is well. Have a wonderful time in Italy!

Steve Jobs survived pancreatic cancer and is apparently thriving. Let's not closet the casket on that dirty dancer yet!

Oh my god. I love the fact that you remember Isabella and how she died.

(I picked up the DAYS habit when I was 12 years old from my mom, who's watched it on and off since practically the beginning. I haven't watched it lately, though.)

You are not a well woman, you soapster you! I, too, hope Patrick lasts longer than five months, but I have seen the way he looks, and I've had plenty of experience losing people to cancer. Based on what I know, it's not looking good for him. And he doesn't deserve what this nasty cancer does, not even for doing Roadhouse.

Steve Jobs had a very, very rare form of pancreatic cancer that responds to treatment. That he is still around, having had it diagnosed in 2003, is evidence that he doesn't have the form that most who develop it have. Jobs never looked the way Patrick looks. Very sad.
