Miscellaneous Monday

* K. turns thirty one week from today. But if you ask him, he's turning seventeen. I'm not sure if he's afraid of turning thirty or trying to land me in jail (in which case, my fine will go up by $15...or by $40 if I play my cards right).

* We went out and bought a new bed frame and headboard yesterday. It's a joint birthday present from ourselves and our family. It arrives in three weeks, just in time to be christened over my birthday weekend.

* I accepted my first paying singing gig in over five years. It's a short term church job and I'm looking forward to it.

* I made a batch of chocolate peanut butter ice cream over the weekend. Words can't even begin to describe it.

* I watched eight episodes of Golden Girls on DVD...one of which I had never even seen before! I didn't think such a thing was possible.

* Speaking of jobs, K. and I watched the Strangers With Candy movie last night. It's not a great movie (except for Allison Janney's cameo), but it taught me the definition of 'rusty trombone'. So that's what it's called.

* We're haivng a houseguest for the next few days. Which likely means I'll be sober again by Friday.

I once taught Dan Savage the meaning of the "rusty trombone" at a book signing. Unfortunately, his boyfriend was lurking in the children's books section, so there was no show-and-tell.

So I'm sitting here thinking why "rusty"?

Ah, yes. Now I get it.

Man, I remember celebrating when K turned 21. We were such drunks.

17 is actually the age of consent in New York, so you're good to go!

Hmmmm, new bed frame and headboard just in time for your birthday....
I am seeing a birthday party reminiscent of John and Yoko’s famous bed in!

Will you post your ice cream recipe?

oh my. I am a trash-mouthed bitch who used to talk about oral sex to eighth graders for a living, but I think I may actually have *blushed* when I read that definition.
Wikipedia is much more racy than I thought.
