Work It Out

K. has started work on his big new Broadway show. For the next few weeks, until the company dives headfirst into tech, we are on roughly the same schedule. Partially inspired by the fact that excercising with a buddy is easier and partially inspired by our recent deep fried gluttony, we have been waking up in the morning and doing the "8 Minute Abs" workout together. One morning, in between leg raises and push throughs, we had the following breathless conversation, punctuated with groans, grunts and cursing.

K: You know how I keep saying that we're going to win the lottery?

MAK: Yeah. And how's that plan coming along?

K: Now I know how we're going to spend part of the money.

MAK: Plastic surgery?

K: I was going to say that we'd buy our own ellipticals so that we could do cardio at home with our 8 Minute Abs.

MAK: Ah.

K: But your idea is way more practical.

If you don't win the lottery . . . I bought my own elliptical last month and have used it about five times a week ever since. I found it on sale at Sears, about $800, and I decided to splurge even thought I wasn't sure I would stick with it. It's in my computer room so I put something soothing (or crazy, depending on my mood) on my iTunes and can hardly believe how quickly 30 or 40 minutes goes. I actually look forward to that time every day because it's so peaceful. I'm not really an exercise bug, but it's too convenient not to use! Just so you know!

It won't matter if you've got fab abs if you're filthy rich.

Just hire beautiful people to socialize with and hang around you.
