MAK's Mooment #9

Labor Day - September 4, 2006

This is what the shelves at the local drugstore looked like:

Don't get me wrong, I love candy corn as much as the next guy. But two months in advance? Even I would throw up if I ate candy corn for two months.

Fast forward to today, walking down Steinway Street in Astoria. They were putting up these all along the thoroughfare:

I know I complain about Rapid Holiday Onset Syndrome every year, but enough is enough. Who wants to put money down on whether or not the jelly beans and Cadbury eggs will be out before Thanksgiving is even over?

I would lose my mind if I had to look at Christmas decorations for over two months (don't get me wrong, I like the holidays and all, but that's obscene). Now that I've said that, wanna bet they'll be up on 82nd St. tomorrow?

I wonder if there'll be any candy left for Halloween, or if they're rewarding early planners?

Um, the two bags of candy corn I bought at your local CVS are gone now. Please send more. I'm having a Halloween party on Saturday (all invited, bring your own heels and hair, I'll have frocks).

No real Halloween here, and definitely not Thanksgiving, so the stores are already in full Christmas Swing. Sir Ian McGandalf lights the xmas lights on Nov 7.

I can get excited about Halloween in advance and I sort of like it to last from somewhere mid October until it officially ends (according to the Vatican) when the Simpson's Treehouse of Terror airs in early November.

But Christmas in October? Gag.

BTW, I have an acquaintance who is a famous porn star who is so into Christmas that his apartment is over-the-top decorated for it 365 days a year.

MAK, I noticed the Christmas decorations up on 30th Ave over the weekend. Can they push the holidays any harder??? Would be nice if they got some new ones, these have been going up as long as I've been in Astoria (9years).

of course the cadbury eggs and jelly beans will not be out before thanksgiving! please. the candy message hearts and heart-shaped boxes of chocolate will be out before thanksgiving is over. the cadbury eggs and jelly beans will be out at new years.
