Today I woke up with a codeine hangover, enjoyed the quiet lull of an office where almost everyone is on vacation, had my general physician draw some blood for cholesterol testing and tell me I have borderline high blood pressure but I told her that seeing her always makes me nervous so not to read too much into it, had two really cool t-shirts that I found at a really cool website delivered to the office, bonded with some of my female coworkers over the week's top-grossing films and cheap airfare, watched a really funny Golden Girls episode that I believe I may quite possibly never have seen before, spent a good ten minutes staring at the giant tree outside the window turn gold and bronze in the light of the setting sun, had tears well up in my eyes when I happened to catch the last forty-five minutes of What's Eating Gilbert Grape? on cable, smiled as I listened to my boyfriend sing in the shower while I chopped vegetables for dinner, and got caught up via phone with my best friend who I can't wait to see when I go home to Cleveland this weekend. All in all, not a bad day. I think I'll celebrate by popping another pill, drawing a bubble bath and soaking with a Mike's Hard Lemonade and the fall issue of Details with Matthew Fox on the cover.
