I had time to kill between leaving the office and heading uptown to meet the blog boys for some Thursday night intoxication. It was already sticky and gross outside, and since the bar was only one stop away on the 4 train, I ducked into Grand Central for some air conditioned shelter.
I wandered through the bookstore and started a lap around the main hall when my cell phone vibrated. I stepped to the side, out of the flow of traffic, to take the call from London. That's when I saw them.
The twins.
I was momentarily stunned. I did a double take (or is that quadruple take?). I hadn't seem them outside of Astoria, nor had I ever seen them wearing anything other than casual gym attire or sweatpants. As always, they were dressed identically. Black shoes, khaki pants, black belts, and deep blue dress shirts, one button undone at the top. Swarthy, broody and delicious. They were walking towards the subway entrance, with a girl in between them.
I cut London off in the middle of a sentence so that I could gush over my sighting. I got off the phone and tried to follow them into the subway, but it was too late. The twins and their trollop (I'm sure she's a perfectly nice girl, but whatever) had already disappeared, before I had a chance to pull out my camera, which I'd completely forgotten was in my bag.
Dammit. I really need a camera phone.
